COVID-19 UPDATE: Governor Sisolak Implements Stay at Home Order

How Fair Fee Legal Services Can Serve You

Governor Sisolak has announced a stay at home order for Nevada residents as of Wednesday, April 1, 2020. This stay at home order extends the shutdown until the end of April. Residents are permitted to leave their homes to perform essential tasks such as buying groceries, or to work for an essential business. Outdoor activities such as walking or hiking are permitted as long as individuals stay six feet apart and only gather with members of their household. At this time, the directive does not outline penalties for violating this order.

The extended shutdown can come with increased financial hardship for many individuals, even with the expectancy of the stimulus checks. In the bankruptcy world, both courts and law offices have implemented new procedures that will allow individuals to continue to seek debt relief during this difficult time. For our clients this means:

  • Our office can conduct all appointments by phone. We understand that your health and safety is of the utmost importance. From start to finish, we can conduct all appointments by phone. For our clients who prefer to attend in-office appointments, we disinfect the office between each appointment.
  • Your mandatory 341 Meeting of Creditors can also be conducted remotely. Most Trustees have implemented procedures to conduct your 341 Meeting by phone or video conference. This means you can conduct your court hearing without leaving your home. Business on the top, party on the bottom!!
  • Your stimulus checks will not count towards your income for the purposes of qualifying for a Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 case. If you were recently laid off, or furloughed, and could not qualify for a Chapter 7 case in the past, we encourage you to contact our office for a free consultation as your recent change in income could affect the chapter of your case.

With the uncertainty of whether the shutdown will be extended further, we understand that many people may be faced with some difficult financial decisions. As we are considered an essential business, Fair Fee Legal Services is honored to continue to serve Nevada residents and help them gain control of their financial situation during this uncertain time.

Lawrence B. Actual Client

Harlene July 2010 – I had put off filling for a while. I was kind of afraid of the unfamilar. The staff was amazing, and made me feel good about what I needed to do. Seth, was right to the point and got things handled. I am very pleased.
